An Incomplete History of my Internet Empire
TLDR: Since 1994, I have been active on the internet and during this time, I have created many websites, blogs, comics, and various experimental projects. While some of them have vanished, a few still exist to this day. Although this record is mostly for my personal entertainment and recollection, others who were involved might also find it amusing.
Back in 1994, during my college days in Fredonia, I accessed the internet for the first time. I vaguely recall hearing about the "Information Superhighway" through the news. One of my dorm-mates, Jaybird, helped us all connect to the college network using Trumpet Winsock.
I began learning HTML right away (and subsequently CSS and JavaScript) to construct a website for showcasing my art. This kickstarted a continuous string of online projects that eventually became my "online empire". As time passed, I archived some of these projects as they became broken, inaccessible, or too cringe-worthy to keep public. Hence, what follows is a compilation of my web ventures from 1994 to the present. I hope you enjoy it!
My first and only portfolio website. I registered chrisbishop.com in April 1999 for $70.
Sick Doggy
2000 - 2006
Sick Doggy initially emerged as a short-lived collaborative comic strip platform, co-created with Neil the Tie Guy from Fredonia.
After its brief run, I transformed it in August 2002 into a personal blog, encompassing art, humor, and miscellaneous musings, reminiscent of a quintessential early 2000s blog. The blog's audience was rather intimate, likely comprised of my friends. I utilized Movable Type as the foundation for the blog, which proved to be an enjoyable platform to work with.
Some standout and inspirational posts from Sick Doggy include...
Top 5 Games I Invented as a Child
Top 5 Places from Rap Songs Visited in L.A.
High Schoolers Name Fish
Emma Bunton a.k.a. Baby Spice
Top 5 Strangest Books I Found on my Bookshelf
Maple syrup?
I don't think Mo Rocca likes me.
Schoolhouse Rock Sucks
Friendster dangerously slow
Controversies Within the G. I. Joe Community
In April 2006, my interest in keeping a blog waned, and eventually, I set up a redirect to chrisbishop.com.
A weekly webcomic featuring two characters: a girl and a pig. Over the course of each four panel strip, they are involved in bouts where they usually end up inflicting violence of some sort on one another.
HER! was one of the first (possibly THE first) webcomics to run on the Movable Type blog publishing software.
Everyone
2003 - 2005

The complete list of contributors and post counts were as follows....

Like all great projects, it ended sometime in 2005 when we lost interest and/or Movable Type probably broke.
Boupe's journey began with an unwavering pursuit of expired domain names - a niche area of expertise that ultimately led to the discovery of boupe.com. The purchase of this domain set the stage for a revolutionary new web portal that would disrupt the industry as we know it.
With Yahoo as the ultimate web portal benchmark, Boupe was born as a direct competitor, leveraging cutting-edge technology and innovative strategies to achieve market dominance. The majority of Boupe's early development was fuelled by a group of friends who, amidst the excitement of football and beers, made major strides in the portal's creation.
As Boupe's user base grew, so too did the demand for more advanced features and capabilities. This led to the introduction of a host of new tools and functions that continue to keep the portal ahead of the curve to this day.
With its finger on the pulse of Silicon Valley, Boupe is redefining the web portal experience and paving the way for a new era of digital interaction. Join us on this journey of innovation and discover the limitless possibilities that lie ahead.
